We measured it with a MacBook Pro with M3 Pro sending to an iMac 24‑inch with M1 over a Thunderbolt 4 cable, at 4480 × 2520 and 60 frames per second, using preproduction software, in October 2026. With a moving picture the median was 8.7 to 9.1 ms. Scrolling text or pictures, moving a window and panning a full-screen picture measured 9.9 to 10.8 ms.
What the figure leaves out
- As on any display, the iMac shows a new frame at its next refresh, which adds up to 16.7 ms at 60 Hz.
- A frame after a pause, such as the first change when you start typing, takes longer: about 25 ms.
Over Wi‑Fi
A compressed picture takes longer. On the same two Macs, Medium over Wi‑Fi measured about 37 ms.
